Are You Ready For Summer? Here’s How To Start Prepping Now
Summer is finally here.
We are promised warmer days and sunshine. Sometimes that means that we need to start thinking about how we feel over the summer and it presents the perfect opportunity for you to make some lifestyle changes and also to think about making some positive and good decisions to protect yourself for when you are enjoying the sun.
However, it’s not just about dieting for a bikini body or things like that. We should be happy with how we look and feel confident in our own skin.
But it’s more the little things that can have an overall big impact on our lives and help us to make healthy and positive choices to enjoy the summer season. With that in mind, here are some of the things women need to think about, maybe you already have?
Shaving Your Legs
For some of us our legs don’t get much attention during winter. This might be down to the fact they are covered up every day. But as Summer approaches and the promise of weather getting better it’s natural for us to want to wear some summery clothes.
These tend to be shorts or dresses don’t they? Which means we need to consider removing the hair from our legs. This might be down to shaving. Which is the quickest way of doing it. Or you may want to consider waxing or laser hair removal. However you do it, I do think it’s something we all think about.
Dealing with Things That Have Been Bothering You
We all find that in winter we tend to hibernate and hide away and so often personal appearances and how we feel about ourselves can be put to one side.
However, when summer starts, we all start to feel a little more self-conscious as it feels like we are on show more. So maybe now is the time to tackle those demons.
Whether you are struggling with your hair and want to look into hair loss treatments, or even thinking about things such as cosmetic surgery or improvements to the way you look in other ways, do what feels right for you. Now is the time to make some positive changes and to feel happier in your own skin.
Personal Hygiene
Warmer weather means feeling hotter, which means we are bound to get sweaty and feel a little awful at times. So we need to think about our personal hygiene and perhaps upping our game a little.
There are stronger deodorants you can buy at supermarkets. There are other things to consider to help you stay cool and also have you feeling confident in the warmer weather.
No one needs to tell anyone to shower more; I think that goes without saying. But it’s just worth remembering to take extra care of ourselves in the summer.
Sun-Cream
Over the next few weeks, we enter official sun cream season. Being in the UK, we tend to not apply sun cream as much as we should. It’s as if we think that because we are here, we won’t burn or cause damage to our skin from being in the sun. But we can still be subject to harmful UV rays.
A great idea is to apply sun cream in a morning instead of a body moisturiser, that way you are good to go. Then you just need to keep it topped up throughout the day, but at least the initial protection is there.
Nourish Your Body with The Right Food
Summer sometimes means that you think that diets are the way forward to help you lose weight so you can feel confident in your own skin, but this isn’t the case.
Diets are often not the right course of action to take and instead you should focus on a healthy and balanced approach.
Nourish your body with the food that you need to function. Eating an array of colours in your diet is a great way to ensure that you are getting all of the vitamins and nutrients you need.
Drink More Water
Another thing to do would be to increase your water intake. It might sound like such a small thing, but it can make such a big difference to how you feel on the inside and how you look on the outside.
Water is a natural detox and so flushes out any bad toxins anyway but you may also want to think about the other benefits. Things such as improving skin tone, helping you to get more sleep and also things such as helping you to feel more energised.
It can really be a great way to have you feeling good this summer and it is only a small change to make.
Wearable Make-Up
We may not want to apply a full face of makeup in the Summer, but we may want to still have something on. So it’s advisable to consider some wearable makeup. A good BB cream is a great place to start as a base. Then just apply a bronzer to add some definition to your cheeks.
It may also be recommended to use a waterproof mascara. Small changes to your makeup routine will have you feeling confident with the way you look while also not going completely makeup free. A nice bright lipstick also works well in the summer months.
Breathable Clothes
Finally, it will be worth investing in some breathable clothes for Summer. Linen is a great material to use, and you can pick up some great trousers and tops. These will keep you cool and still have you looking fashionable.
You might also want to try different things such as changing the style you have and stepping out of your comfort zone. Perhaps wearing dresses and skirts instead of your usual jeans and shorts options.
Small changes can have you feeling glam and it could even boost your confidence levels.

Let’s hope this has prompted you to think about getting yourself prepared for summer and some of the small changes that you could make.
